London Underground Bombings of 7th July 2005

Fifty-two people were killed in the four bombs which exploded in London on 7 July 2005. The bombs exploded at Edgeware Road, Tavistock Square, Russell Square and Aldgate. The bombs were set off by Islamic suicide bombers. The images in this section depict the areas affected by the bombings. Streets were cordoned off as emergency services worked. Commuters look on and try to plan alternative routes home - made more difficult due to a close down of most public transport.
